Clinical Pilates is a specialist progressive exercise programme that can be used to assist rehabilitation after back pain or injury to help prevent recurrence. By working towards correcting muscle imbalances and improving postural alignment physical discomfort can be reduced and dysfunctions of movement corrected. A series of Clinical Pilates exercises are prescribed for each individual to strengthen and rehabilitate specific areas of the body as well as improving posture and movement of the body as a whole.

Sarah qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist in 1990 at St Mary's Hospital, London. She gained essential experience in all areas of Physiotherapy within the NHS and went on to become a Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy Practitioner with The McKenzie Institute, specialising in the treatment and prevention of back and neck pain including referred pain.
Sarah uses a hands on, problem solving approach for conditions of neuromusculoskeletal and biomechanical origin. She has undertaken extensive post graduate study into the treatment of knee pain and has developed a reputation in the area as a specialist in complex knee problems and biomechanics as well as rehabilitation after knee and hip surgery.
Before training as a Chartered Physiotherapist Sarah trained in classical ballet to RAD Advanced level so fully understands the demands placed on the body by high level dance and athletic training. She uses this experience to enhance each individual’s rehabilitation towards their desired level of physical ability.
Sarah is familiar with dealing with the most stubborn injuries and painful conditions, including those which have been going on for years. The aim of treatment is to relieve pain and restore physical ability to the optimum that is realistically available.
Years of working with the physical body lead Sarah to a fascination in the involvement of the mind in pain and disability and how we may utilise this to assist treatment, enhance rehabilitation and stimulate recovery. Subsequently achieving the Medical Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy has enabled her to realise the scope and power of the mind in all areas of wellbeing and to use this to the benefit of patients.
We allow 45 minutes for your initial detailed assessment, which also involves diagnosis, explanation and commencement of treatment.
Follow-up appointments are up to 45 minutes enabling us to review your progress and individually tailor your treatment programme.
After assessment a personalised series of progressive clinical Pilates exercises will be prescribed and taught.

A full treatment session focussing on your feet.
We warm the feet and then gently mobilise joints throughout feet and ankles to ease tightness. This is followed by specific massage and soft tissue release techniques for the feet and lower legs to reduce tension and boost circulation and lymphatic flow.
A 50% fee will be charged for non-attendance and when cancelling an appointment without giving 24 hours notice.
